One strategy for capacity building is to work with key stakeholders including faculty, administrators, policymakers, and government officials. Our focus is based on the need to build capacity for continued learning, innovation, and adjustment. Rather than simply importing ideas and strategies from elsewhere, our goal is to help educators and key stakeholders find what is most effective for the most important issues within their context. Accordingly, these key stakeholders will draw upon the expertise of those in other areas, and then adapt and apply those lessons. To build such a community, it is necessary to develop a sense of membership, emotional safety, belonging, and personal investment. Central to developing such a community is developing a richer understanding of the community’s concerns, opportunities, and passions for learning.
